Current Health Careers Institute Statistics

The new semester at the Health Careers Institute began August 23, 2001. Now one year old, HCI has enrolled 322 students since August of last year.

113 enrolled in the Nursing Assistant program

26 in the Acute Care program

24 in the Acute Care and Nursing Assistant program

4 in the combined Nursing Assistant and ESL program

53 in various clerical courses

29 in the Medical Coding program

5 in the medical transcription program

28 in the Phlebotomy program

1 in the combined Phlebotomy and Nursing Assistant program and,

37 students in the ESL course which is offered for no credit.

• 35 % of enrolled students reside in the 55401-55409 zip codes.
• 139 have completed their coursework, and 93 of the 139 completed that work more than two months ago and are eligible for guaranteed job placement.

• Of the 93 students who completed their coursework and are eligible-
• 21 were placed at Abbott Northwestern
• 1 at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics
• 4 at HCMC
• 33 were placed at other hospitals, long term care facilities, etc
• 7 are continuing their education and declined a position at this time
• 8 had problems with day care and were unable to accept a position at this time
• 19 don’t have jobs within the two month window and,
• the remaining 46 will be looking for positions by mid-August.
