Ben Bache-Wiig
President, Abbott Northwestern Hospital 

 

Ben Bache-Wiig, MD became president of Abbott Northwestern Hospital in October 2011. Bache-Wiig has been vice president of Medical Affairs for Abbott Northwestern since July 2009. He is board-certified in internal medicine and is an accomplished medical executive. 

He succeeded Jeff Peterson, who was promoted to executive vice president for Allina's Hospital Division. "His values-based leadership style, his advocacy for high-quality patient care, his experience running a large independent physician group, and his strong clinical and executive leadership background make him a great fit for president at Abbott Northwestern," Peterson said. 

Bache-Wiig completed his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University. He attended medical school at the University of Wisconsin and completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Bache-Wiig was part of the North Clinic for 20 years, both as a medical director and physician president.
